Flea Market Fancy Mail Day

I'm still shopping!  This arrived in the mail too so I wanted to share!  I bought a yard of most of the prints and extra of my favorites.

Coleman Vacationer 2-Room 10-Person 15' x 10' Cabin Tent

My tent stake bag that I mentioned in my previous post was to protect our new tent from the stakes and it got put to use! And I LOVE our new tent. I'm totally in love with it. I was so excited that I even made a new pillowcase to take with me camping:

Unfortunately, the day we got there fire restrictions went into effect... so there was no campfire.  I brought huge Giant Roaster Marshmallows for my S'mores so I was incredibly disappointed.  I had no S'mores.  This depressed me.  Then I got sunburn on the first day (accidentally), then I managed to jam a super long splinter from the picnic table into my pinky finger (my husband: "It was stuck completely in her finger and when I pulled it out it was at least a 1/2" LONG!"), then ravens that ravaged our collapsible water jug, then an incident with some sickness that caused me not to be able to use my precious pillowcase on the first night, and a morning of using the laundry facilities (I just happened to be at the only campground I know that has laundry facilities?!).  So we left a bit early, but we swore to return to make up for this trip. :)

My friend is having a baby... so I'm squeezing that into my long list of to-do quilts before the end of the year.  This is the new super cute Alphabet Soup line by Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake:

I'm still working on my Kona Challenge Quilt!  I've had the top pieced for like a month now.. I just need to sandwich, quilt, and bind it.  I plan on finding some time in the next week!  So exciting to almost be done with another!

On my to-do list...

Since completing the turquoise new wave quilt, I've been dragging it around and using it everywhere.  I love it so very much.  I wish I could put it on the bed, but it's not quite queen sized. (not that it stopped me)  So just as I was contemplating making a bed quilt, there in my feeds the next morning was the Naked Bed Challenge.  I figured it was as good as time as any!

I've slowly put together my Amy Butler Love collection knowing that I wanted to use these specifically for a bed quilt... and I've been staring at them for the past week figuring out what pattern I want to use.  There's a lot of large prints in the mix so I want to have it focused on that and not chop them up too small.  I still want it simple so it doesn't go all 'color vomit' as my friend likes to call it.

On another note.. at the recommendation of basically everyone in the LVMQG, posts in my feeds, and apparently the rest of the internet (how do you time that so well internet?!), I bought my first Aurifil cone today over at my local quilt shop:

New Wave Quilt

I looked at my list of favorite quilts and my future to-do lists and I realized that most of them are from Elizabeth Hartman.  I even own her book which I flip through all the time.  I totally fell in love with the New Wave Quilt the first second I saw it.  And as soon as I got the Andrea Victoria fabric back in July... I knew that was the projected I wanted to use it for.

My plan was to finish this before the weather got warm... sadly it just went into the 70s when I took this picture.. I might have been to late... but I don't care - I love it so much!

The back is not as tilted as it looks in this photo.  All of the solids used are Kona.  White, Azure, and the back is Caribbean (my favorite!).  The fabric is Riley Blake - My Minds Eye - Andrea Victoria and I used Warm and White for the batting.

I used the Darlene Zimmerman's "Fat Cats" ruler as suggested on Oh, Fransson!'s blog and added a few columns and rows to make this bigger.  Final size is about 76" x 68".

I pressed all of my seams open.  I love how flat they lay.

I did a meandering free motion quilting all over this.  I feel like the quilting part took forever - I had to take so many breaks because this thing was super heavy to push through my machine!

Cool Scrap Pack

This arrived in the mail the other day.  Surprise fabric is fun. :)  It gives me a chance to get stuff I wouldn't normally pick out.  It's the Cool Scrap Pack from Hawthorne Threads.  Most are 1/4 yard, a couple are fat quarters, and just one is about 4" x WOF (bottom left).

My Favorite Fabrics

Amy Butler's Paradise Wine is one of my favorites right now.  I bought a bunch and I still have no idea what i'm going to do with it... but first on my list were pillows just so I can stare at it more.  It will end up in a quilt someday... as soon as I can figure out a pattern that I like.  I've been thinking about a New Wave quilt or a Tumbler.... still not sure and I still have to purchase the rest of the fabrics I'd like in it to keep with a 'red' theme.

The Andrea Victoria collection by My Minds Eye is also amazing.  I snatched these up the second I saw them.  I was lucky enough to get them when I did because they sold out the next day.  I'm in a big turquoise mode... and red.. and turquoise and red together.  Someday I will have a craft room that will hopefully be as creative as hers: Crafty Intentions Craftroom.

I think the New Wave Quilt would look great in this fabric with white sashing.  I'm just waiting for the white kona to finally go on sale.  I've already got the Darlene Zimmerman's "Fat Cats" ruler as suggested on Oh, Fransson!'s blog.
